 "note": "Each row is what the Altoona Police Department reported its plate readers produced, as printed in its 2022 update memos and its December 2022 and February 12, 2024 white papers, released in response to a public-records request. These are the department's own claims, not independent verification. Most totals are running counts since May 2022 as of the date printed; the two \"last 30 days\" rows count a single 30-day window; different documents count different things, so they are never summed or charted as one series, and a missing line is not zero. The records do not say how a lead, suspect or charge is credited to the plate readers. A case example's use is only what the record's own words say (an NCIC alert, a custom hot list alert, or a search of stored reads); otherwise it is not stated. Nothing here says what the cameras caused. The 2023 annual report's plate-reader figures are on /police/annual-reports.json.",
