Lookup

Type an address or click the map.

Type it the way you would say it. Close spellings and abbreviations match as you type, and a street on its own lists its blocks. Blocks are grouped ranges, not individual homes; near a boundary the page asks you to confirm with the County Auditor.

What the result means

Three different civic geographies.

Election precinct

Polk County election records list six precincts labeled Altoona. Precincts organize voting and polling places. They are not City Council wards. Polling places can change by election, so verify with the Polk County Auditor before voting.

Police district

The City publishes three police districts, the department’s operational areas. They do not report crime levels, patrol frequency, or response times. See the police records page.

Limits

Street ranges come from county address records grouped into blocks of at least five addresses. Ranges near a boundary can be imperfect; the page flags them. Boundaries are current published versions, simplified for display.
